Hair-Raising
I don't have anything fun and fibery to show you tonight. I figured I should tell you that up-front.
In fact, I don't really have that much to say at all. The biggest news today? I called my hair salon to get an appointment for a haircut and found out that my stylist is no longer there. No idea where she went, so now I'm stuck trying to find another hair-dresser. Preferably one who knows how to handle curly hair. Too many of them don't, you know, which is why I was so pleased to find Jen a few years ago. Sigh.
The only "lead" I have for a good, local, curly-friendly stylist? The NaturallyCurly.com salon board. There's one salon in Randolph--just a few miles from here--that has a stylist with nine separate recommendations. I'm thinking I'll give them a call in the morning.
The worst part is that my hair badly needs coloring--the roots are about an inch long and looking rather . . . silvery. I had figured I'd wait until after I got my haircut because working the dye through long hair is challenging enough--an inch or two can really make a difference--but now? Well, I guess it will depend on how long it takes to get an appointment.
It's a shame we can't all look as naturally gorgeous as this fellow, huh?
Although, hair-wise, I guess I can't really complain, huh?
Hey--any Ravelry users out there who are Scorpios? I was thinking it would be fun to have a Scorpio Group (since there are groups for just about every thing else), but I need three people who are interested before I can set one up.

Me! Me! Me! Pick me! (November 3rd -- makes me a scorpio through and through). I'm Fidoknits there, too.

you need people interested to start a group in ravelry now?? Wow! I started one I didn't do anything special.. I'm not a scorpio though sorry :(

I'm a Scorpio, too. I'm purlingoaks at ravelry.

Oh, man. I can sympathize. My stylist went AWOL a few months ago, (see my blog Under Sask Skies for all the gory details) but he resurfaced after not too long. I gave him heck and now we have an understanding: as long as he's doing hair, I will be his client. (I don't know where I'll fit in if he quits to be a rock and roll drummer- maybe I can be a go-go dancer.)
I am a Scorpio, but not on Ravelry. It's still a bit of a mystery for me.

I totally hate when stylists go AWOL. Nothing worse than establishing a good relationship with one, they know you, you know them, you gel with the hair cut thing. Hard when they are gone! Good luck finding someone new.

Count me in for a Scorpio group (Ravelry username is betheany)!
I can sympathize about the curly-hair hairdresser issues. It's so hard to find a good stylist that knows how to care for and cut curls.

Once I sign up for Ravelry I'll join the Scorpio group. Excellent idea. You might want to look into Lounge in Denville for a stylist. It's on the second floor next to Urban Muse Spa. Mina is very good and she has curly hair. Can't hurt to give them a call.

I hope you find someone you like -- Chris has curly hair too, and it's hard to find someone who knows how to cut a man's curly hair well. Like you, I'm nervous to try a new stylist. I don't want to go back to the old salon since I've moved, so I have an appt. with a new place, and my fingers are crossed they know how to cut fine hair without chopping it. :) Let us know how it turns out!

I hate the hair dressing thing. I actually haven't cut my hear since I was home last August for my grandma's funeral because I can't seem to find anyone I like here. I *think* this weekend I'm trying out my SIL's hairdresser because I must get at least a trim before the family wedding at the end of the month. *sigh* I'll cross my fingers for you if you'll do the same for me! :-)

Don't you hate that? Just when you find a stylist that really gets to know your hair, and, off they go. Bummer.

Everytime I find a stylist who doesn't chop my hair to shreds that I love, always always always leaves. I knot how hard it is to find someone. Good luck with your search!

oh no! I don't know what I'd do if my stylist disappeared...I hope you can get an appointment soon - and that they're good...

Oh no. Good luck with finding a new stylist. I am currently fighting a couple of layers that are determined to curl up when I want them down.

Oh, I hate that! My stylist has been great about sending us all postcards as she changes salons...

Ick. I hate trying to find a new stylist. Mine up and quit a few months ago without any notice. Fortunately the new one at the same salon turned out to be even better than she was. Good luck.
