- How many unread books do you have in your house, right now? (Your own books, that is--not ones that belong to other family members--and not counting things like school books, if you have them.) Clearly, an estimate will do. I can be exact for you. Out of my library of 2,832 books, I have exactly 32 which are unread.
- To the best of your recollection, what is the OLDEST unread book in your collection? How long has it been waiting? I think the oldest is the history book "Frauen" by Alison Owings, about German women condoning or ignoring or applauding, as the case may be, the atrocities in WWII. The other possibility is "Letters from Thailand" by Botan, which a college friend gave to me years ago . . . they're close in age (well, my copies are close in age--not necessarily the copyrights, you understand). I think Frauen is older, but . . .
- Do your TBR books (that's "To Be Read," if you didn't know) haunt you, make you feel guilty that you haven't read them yet? Not really. I like to keep the list under control--my upper limit for comfort is 50 books, but I'm usually in the 25-30 range, so I'm okay with 32. The breakdown? 2 are biographies, 2 are craft books (on weaving, which is a "pending" craft, so these might be sitting for a while), 1 is about dogs. 11 are fantasy/sci-fi, 3 are general fiction, 1 is a literature analysis, 1 is a mystery, and 11 are history books.
And yes, sorry, that's really all I've got tonight!

i swear, i'm gonna go read the liaden chapter. i just can't seem to get over there!

I bow to your unread book organization.

32 sounds like a nicely manageable number. I had to guess, so undoubtedly my answers will change when I get home.
I love your unread book organization. I believe I'm going to go home and emulate it.

OK - so I'm still in awe of all the books you read. I've been thinking about it regularly since you posted the 300+ books you read. When I was mobilized with the USMCR after 9/11, I managed to read over a book a week, which I thought was a great deal. Psssst. I have a secret to share. BF and I are going to take down the books in the library/office that we never use and turn it into my craft room. I'm soooooooooooooo excited. But before I move all those books, what's your favorite book? What's your favorite genre? What don't you like to read? Happy reading and knitting!

I need an intervention. When I got back into knitting, my reading time shrunk, but my book buying didn't. I don't even want to think about the number of unread books on my shelves. I'm so ashamed.
