So, I'm knitting Fetching for my mail carrier this Christmas. (I know she doesn't read my blog!) The pattern, of course, calls for one skein of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. . . possibly two.
Well, guess how many I need?
Yep. I ran out of yarn two rows before the end of the glove. Sigh.
Nevertheless, I'm liking this pattern so much I'm thinking of making a pair for myself. Because, well . . . cozy!
I went back to work today after my long weekend and found a "new" (well, refurbished) computer sitting at my desk . . . one which didn't want to cooperate pretty much all day. Basically, every program I opened had problems . . . some simple like "Install Upgrade now?," some more complicated, but none of which I could do anything about because I don't have Administrator privileges. All the while I was trying to get settings the way I like them, screen resolutions, shortcuts, taskbar . . . In other words, a FUN day.
Which wasn't made any more fun by feeling asthma-y for most of the afternoon, so now, while feeling better, my lungs feel tired. Ick.
Still . . . short on yarn or not, those Fetching gloves sure look . . . fetching!
(Oh, and I DO have more yarn, it's just frustrating to need it, you understand.)

What a frustrating day! first the computer, then the gloves...or was it the other way round? Either way, what a PITA!

sigh.... asthma sucks. too bad that you have to fight it.
the gloves are lovely, no matter how much yarn they take. Your gift will be totally loved.

I've seen lots run short so at least you're not alone.

I love the color of the Fetching gloves. Getting a new computer can be fun and exciting or frustrating all at the same time.

Love your Fetchings. New computers are a pain with all the setup you have to do. Hope it works better as time goes by and I hope you're feeling better after your asthma-ey day. Hugs to Chappy.

I ran out of yarn on my fetching mitts, too, and I didn't have another ball (this was also before they made the pattern change that said you might need 2 balls as well). I used contrast tips, which I discovered the recipient (one of my sisters) likes better anyway! Still, as you said, frustrating!
They look great though :)
I hope you feel better and don't have asthma-y issues today!

oooohhhh good idea - I just might steal it. Our mail lady has been making an extra trip into our driveway to drop off all the packages we've been getting (and Beanie loves to chase and try to bite her - so I owe her, big time). Knitting mitts seems so much easier than cookies...

The gloves look great! I think I would be less than happy if someone replaced my computer at work! ugh! Not a fun proposition - hope it improves and your lungs as well.

did you run out after one ball, or 2?
sounds like a crappy day, hope it's better today

Sorry to hear about the computer. That is always such a pain. Fetching does indeed look fetching.

Ugh, I have the same issue at work with not being an adminstrator on the computer... Fetching is looking great! Although I'm worried, because I bought just one ball of yarn to start those at some point. Although my hands are weirdly small, so I suppose it should be okay...

Love the fetchings! I'm really going to have to make a pair myself. Sorry about the computer and the asthma. Both are darn big downers. I'm hitting a different problem at work. I have this one web server that keeps locking my user account. I need to go pester someone to unlock it. I think I'm going to spend the rest of the day fighting with it to see what it might be running that is locking it. Oh well.

my mail carrier gets a dunkin donuts gift card. thanks for the reminder.

That is a great color for those mitts. I say definitely make them for yourself. I made them for me right before Rhinebeck and I've been wearing them almost every day since. I never thought I'd like fingerless mitts. They come in really handy and those cables are very snug.

Those fetchings are cool! I was trying to convince hubby that he needs a pair for his trip; he wanted it all plain (not a stitch of rib or a cable anyway...)
Anyway, he's returning this weekend so I hope I can get them on his hands for a shoot!

Two rows? Aaaah! I hate it when that happens. Or, when you're binding off and you have to rejoin new yarn just to finish the cast off edge. Big time pet peeve.
