Favorite Books from 2006
Here's a recap of my year of reading--my favorites from 2006. This includes new-to-me books--102 of them in total-- whether they were newly published in 2006 or not. And not counting re-reads. Oh, and I read 300 books this year, exactly. Thirty fewer than last year . . . I wonder how that happened?

- A LONG WAY DOWN by Nick Hornby (331 p.)
- PLAINSONG by Kent Haruf (301 p.)
- A YEAR DOWN YONDER by Richard Peck (130 p.) (So what if it's a YA book, it's excellent)
- OWL AND MOON CAFE by Jo-Ann Mapson (352 p.)

- FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS by H.G. Bissinger (367 p.)
And to recap the monthly lists themselves:

i finally got knitting rules for christmas, and i adore it. the funny part, is i'm so used to reading the harlot's blog, that i want to type responses to everything! however the bit about having someone who doesn't tell you to "get a grip" when confronted with your stash was very close to home. i did marry him, lol.
oh, and something you'll find particularly funny. i had my sock yarn laid out on the bed to take a picture of it for the limenviolet sock marathon, and mark took one look at it and said "i could say one of two things." and that was? "well, i could say that that pile of yarn is very representative of you" "an eclectic mix of fibers and colors?!?" "or get it off the bed." i started picking it up, lol.

And to think I was happy with my measly 68 books! How do you read that many books and still spin and knit as much as you do????

Wow! I thought I read a lot. I'm so impressed. I've been keeping an Excel spreadsheet for years - my Book Log - it's great fun. I especially like that you note the number of pages. Great idea. I like your system as part of your blog. I think I'll have to check some of these out.

That's a lot of books read, gf. I don't know when you have time to knit and spin, but you manage those, too. You rock!
