Chester? Who's Chester?
We went to Chester today. It's a very "antique-y" kind of place, and just seemed like a nice place to visit . . . not that there was really all that much to do, since we don't actually "do" antiques.
However, it does have one of Chappy's favorite stores--gourmet biscuits, fancy toys and all sorts of nice doggy stuff. Like, say, nice, autumn-y collars. Chappy looks really handsome, don't you think?
Now, tomorrow, it's supposed to rain, at least in the afternoon, so I don't know what we might be able to do for fun vacation stuff but, considering how tired Chappy's been today, maybe that's not a bad thing. I've also been doing quite a bit of reading, which shouldn't really surprise anybody. (grin)
I've been knitting, as you see. Here's my in-progress clapotis.
And my hand-spun sock, which is coming along wonderfully.
But, look at what arrived in my mailbox today. A skein of Trekking from Eva. We were having a conversation a couple weeks ago about how US-centric the U.S. media is, and she bet me that I couldn't find some big EU story in an American newspaper . . . and I did. I TOLD her she didn't have to send me yarn because I certainly wouldn't have gone looking for the headline if she hadn't dared me, but . . . she's a good person, and so . . . see what I got?? (grin)

if i could find my camera, i'd post a pic of my clapotis, too. mine seems to be narrower than yours, but i can't tell where your needle is, lol!
and chappy looked quite handsome in his new collar.
i wish i could go on vacation (i know, i'm not working, but i'm working here, ugh. pear butter is kicking my fanny!)

You and Chappy are having some great adventures! I'm sure he loves the new collar -- it looks so great with his fur.
Good for you for finding the EU story! Don't you just love a good bit of detective work?!

Chester is not all that far from where I live! I didn't know we were that close in NJ...

We would have had tons of fun in Chester going in *all* the antique stores. LOL What a wonderful looking town. Chappy's so handsome in his new collar. Your knitting is coming along nicely. And how wonderful of Eva to send you that lovely yarn. :-D

Love the colors in the Clapotis - I have a skein of Brooks Farm fourplay that will become a 'skinny' one, since I couldn't justify buying a 2nd skein of it just for the 100 or so yards you need to make a full one.
Chappy looks very handsome in his new collar :o)

I love Chester, we usually take the pups for a walk in Hacklebarnery State Park. (Hacklbarney, it's such fun to say.) The town does get a bit crazy and touristy from pumpkin season through Christmas, but it is a lovely spot. I was out there two weeks ago at Ort Farm.

I haven't been to Chester in a while, but there is a gourmet dog bakery in Hackettstown which has some nice goodies. Although not as much antique stores.

ok, next time keep going north to Ridgewood (exit 165) and check out the Karabella store, and my favorite LYS in HoHoKus - Close Knit.
